Plumas Arts offers up an exiting concert as festive and spicy-hot as the upcoming summer season. Join your friends and neighbors for a live performance with Del Castillo on Thursday, July 24th at the Town Hall Theatre in Quincy.

Del Castillo has become a symbol of the cross-cultural power of music with their phenomenal live shows and an eclectic blend of Flamenco, Rock, Latin, Blues, and World music.

The group has won the attention of Rolling Stone magazine, which describes Del Castillo as "a high-energy Chicano band from Austin that sings in Spanish, combining old-school Gitano with flailing nuevo flamenco flourishes and churning polyrhythmic percussion. Their secret weapons are brothers Rick and Mark Del Castillo, whose tumbling brilliance on nylon-string classical guitars features jaw-dropping dual leads. These eruptions of technique and taste conjure images of Eddie Van Halen fronting early Santana (with an assist from the Gipsy Kings)."

It all began in late 2000 when brothers Rick and Mark del Castillo decided to put together an album of Latin/Flamenco-style songs for their parents and friends in their hometown of Brownsville, Texas. By 2003, Del Castillo had become one of Austin's most popular bands and they swept the Austin Music Awards that year, winning seven awards including "Band of the Year" and "Album of the Year".

Their work has been featured extensively in films by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarrantino, opening the door for extensive touring with such artists as Ozomatli, Los Lonely Boys, Los Lobos, Kinky, deSol, and others. The group has performed at three of Willie Nelson's 4th Of July Picnics and at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival.

Billboard Magazine said, "...Whether Del Castillo works in Spanish or English, it rocks righteously...They pull together Latin music's romance and rock's grit."
