ALMANOR ART SHOW
RE-INVESTS IN LOCAL CULTURE

If you have made the Almanor Art Show a regular stop in your summer activities you know that it may very well be the best show that Plumas County has to offer. If have not yet made it, mark your calendars now so that you can be sure to attend this year. Plumas Arts is pleased to host the 39th annual Almanor Art Show on August 2nd & 3rd, 2008.

This fine arts and crafts show features the work of professional artists Northern California, Oregon and Nevada. Nearly 100 booths brimming with original, artful, interesting and sometimes unusual merchandise will be filling the magnificent and cool green Collins Pine lawn on Highway 36, in Chester.

The art is superb, the lawn is spacious and cool green, the music is delightful and the food tasty. Mark your calendars now and plan to attend the 39th annual Almanor Art Show on the Collins Pine Lawn in Chester August 2nd & 3rd.

Plumas Arts has long worked to maintain the excellent reputation of the Almanor Art Show. The show has long ranked as one of the most respected exhibitions of fine arts and crafts in professional trade publications, among artists and by the hundreds of visitors who plan their annual vacations and visits to this annual art show for the last several decades.

The Almanor Art Show is a juried show, meaning that artists who want to participate must meet specific quality guidelines for their work and craftsmanship. This ensures that high quality and unique original art and crafts are available in a full range of prices.

The show offers a variety of fine arts and crafts, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, pottery, photography, stained glass, clothing, metal work, jewelry, furniture, country crafts and more.

The show is unique in many ways. It is one of very few art shows produced by a local nonprofit organization. Private, out-of-area promoters produce several other Plumas County summer art shows. Not this one. You can be sure that any revenues generated at the Almanor Art Show are reinvested right here in our county, and our local businesses, by Plumas Arts. So your patronage of this event helps to support local arts programs as well as the fine artists who are producing such extraordinary art work.

Support local artists. A Plumas Arts partnership with the Feather River Fine Arts Association offers an Almanor Art Show local artists art-colony, showcasing some of the best work produced by Almanor area.

The over all goal of the show is to showcase original art and the artists who created it in a pleasant space. Unlike some other art shows, show coordinators do not cram in as many booths as possible into too small a space. The Collins Pine lawn provides ample space between booths and plenty of space to sit in the shade with family and friends and enjoy a beautiful summer day.

The Almanor Art Show also provides several quality food booths, so plan to stay for lunch. There will also be live music both afternoons.

The show was first hosted on the shores of Lake Almanor in 1969 by a group of Almanor Basin resident artists. When Plumas Arts was formed in the early 1980's one of the organization's very first projects was to take over the administration of this art show, at the request of the artists who had been coordinating it. When The Almanor Art Show outgrew its original home on the lake shore, it was hosted for two years adjacent to the Collins Pine lawn. In 1988, with the support of the Collins Pine management, Caltrans and local law enforcement officials the show moved to its permanent home on the Collins Pine Lawn.

In 2006 Plumas Arts partnered with the Feather River Fine Arts Association to offer a local artists art-colony area which showcases some of the best work produced by Almanor area artists. The collaboration has proven to be an asset to this show as well as to other county and regional artistic efforts.
