Well the wait is over and the new Digital Theatre Sound System has been installed at the Town Hall Theatre just in time for the Holiday Movie Season.

There is more clarity to the film sound in general and the Surround Sound is fully operational. That addition helps pick up peripheral noises that makes it feel as if you were really in the environment where the movie was filmed.

"The film sound track is read of a CD that picks up traffic or crowd or factory sounds in the background," explains THT Manager Roxanne Valladao. "The first night Barbara, our projectionist, showed a film with the new sound system she thought that a cat had gotten trapped in the theatre. It was just the sound of the cat that was walking around in the background of the film."

Theatre management is dedicated to providing the best movie experience possible for local patrons at a very modest admission price. "As with all businesses now, money is tight, so we seriously evaluated making this investment. We are hoping that, as been proven in past in economically hard times, that people will continue to go to the movies to suspend disbelief for a while to enter the environment of fantasy or fiction. This upgraded film going experience will offer even more motivation to do just that."

One more phase of sound upgrade will provide a behind the screen sub woofer and amplifier along with a newer version of the existing sound processor. That is scheduled for later this winter.
